This fibre art was inspired by a stormy day at Rottnest. Watching the weather roll in and the ocean change from azure blue to teal. I have incorporated macrame and macraweaves techniques, layering up with shells, silk worm buds and seed casings to add texture and depth. The stick was from Rottnest and has been bleached and treated before sanding to make it a real stand out display piece. 120cm X 120 cm

I am a Sorrento based fibre artist who runs local macrame workshops teaching small groups to create wall hangings and plant pot holders. I also take commissions for weaving / macraweaves/ macrame / fibre art pieces to match style and budget. I am self taught after attending a workshop 4 years ago and falling in love with the craft. I love to add a modern, innovative twist to traditional macrame and use the sea and nature to inspire my pieces, often incorporating shells, silk worm buds and dried seeds etc into my work. All of my pieces are displayed on locally collected and treated driftwood, hence each is totally unique. Crafting is the gift of solitude and reflection in my busy life ( I’m a full time teacher) , and by offering the workshops I can enjoy crafting in community, hopefully inspiring others to enjoy this wonderful artform . I am delighted to be supporting Motion by the Ocean, a charity dear to my heart as I often go with my elderly friend Lyn and enjoy trips along the coast .
