Over the Dunes

A watercolour and ink artwork inspired by recent walks along the coast exploring the dunes and the flora and fauna residing there. Depicting a sweet white winged fairy wren perched on a branch of Tar Bush nestled in the sand dunes with the ocean in the distance. The elements within the image are stylized to allow for washes of beautiful watercolour which are held together with a web of ink linework giving a luminous stained glass effect. Painted on 650sgm cotton rag Arches watercolour paper and professionally framed, it is ready to hang.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook Gallery in Guildford. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland. Her studio art practice encompasses printmaking and painting to create an ongoing body of work which explores nature, found objects with a sense of home and belonging. Native flowers and birds become subjects and motifs in still life, landscape and subtly abstract pieces. She has a growing portfolio of public art in Perth and wider WA with community and private murals celebrating local flora and fauna.
