This sparkling bay just south of Trigg Beach in Perth is a little slice of paradise. With a winding track overlooking the spectacular coastline, West Coast Highway is idyllic for anyone wanting to enjoy the incredible views, whether you’re walking, bike riding, or relaxing on a park bench. ‘Invitation to Descend’ allows you to imagine following a sandy path down through the coastal bushes, as you’re drawn towards the gently rolling turquoise water at the shoreline. You can almost smell the salty, fresh air rushing into your lungs as you feel your body relaxing. A4 size, painted in professional Windsor & Newton watercolours, on Arches 300gsm cotton rag textured paper. Original work completed by Jemma Newman in 2023.

I’m an emerging Western Australian artist, and I love capturing the beauty of our local beaches in vibrant watercolours. I try to evoke the deep sense of calm and joy I feel at the beach with every brushstroke. I want my art to invite you in, as if you could walk into the painting and feel the fresh salty water swirling around your toes. I’m never short of inspiration from my daily walks along West Coast Highway, with the stunning vistas of sandy bays, sparkling water, and crashing waves. You may have seen me painting on location in my favourite spots including Mettams Pool, Watermans Bay, North Beach, Trigg, and Marmion. Please come over and say hello if you see me. A self-taught painter, in 2023 I turned my hobby into a business with great success. I paint almost daily, and regularly create seascapes for locals who love having the happiness of the beach in their home. My paintings are recognisably local, created with careful layering of watercolour to build the luminous water, rock formations, and vibrant greenery of our coastline.
